Wat Koh Mak also known as Wat Samakeetham is the only temple on the island of Koh Mak.
Koh Mak is a small island located in the east of Thailand between Koh Chang and Koh Kut. It’s known as the green island and is popular for beach going tourists.
Located near Ao Nid Pier this small temple is perched on a hill giving visitors amazing ocean views.
The temple was originally established as a place to practice meditation. The locals have invested into it in order for it to be a proper temple to service the community. With the expansion they have built a small ordination hall that will be opened soon.
It’s a nice break from the beaches and the monks are very nice. They will be happy to tell you the history of the area as well as the temple.

Wat Phra Khao (วัดพระขาว), located in Phra Khao Subdistrict, Bang Ban District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, is an ancient active Buddhist temple believed to have been established during the Ayutthaya period (likely around the mid-18th century AD, with some estimates placing it circa 1707 AD based on traditional accounts). The temple’s name derives from its principal Buddha image, Luang Pho Khao (หลวงพ่อขาว), a large stucco statue painted white that has been venerated since ancient times.
The temple received its official wisungkhamasima (consecrated ordination hall boundary) on September 27, 1927 AD.
