Wat Phu Man Fa - Buriram Thailand

Wat Phu Man Fa is a massive temple being built in Buriram Thailand. This temple has caused some controversy due to its resemblance to Angkor Wat.

Construction started several years ago on a piece of land covering 200 Rai (roughly 100 acres). It features several stone buildings built in the Khmer style. Its resemblance to Angkor Wat has caused a great deal of controversy and the #SaveAngkorWat hastag.

The head Abbot that is the vision behind the project said the styling came to him in a dream. He believes that he was a soldier that was part of the construction of the original Angkor Wat and now is continuing now after entering the monk hood.

The controversy drew the attention of Cambodian officials that were invited to inspect the site. It’s been agreed that it has design elements of many different sites like Phimai and others and is not a direct copy of the UNESCO World Heritage site.

Dingshige (Dashawan) Fort - Japanese Fort From 1895-1945 - Keelung City Taiwan 2025

After the treaty of Shimonoseki, at which the Qing dynasty agreed to give Taiwan to Japan some forts were renovated and improved by the Japanese army. This was one of the forts that was renovated to provide security to the harbor of Keelung.

The remains of the Dashawan Stonewall can be found behind the Keelung fortress headquarters and park. A large building which used to act as a command post for the Japanese army but now is a cultural, leisure and creative center for the residents of Keelung.

Dashawan fort was a so called flat fort, a flat area where cannons and other defensive structures could be built upon. To protect the soldiers and materials from the weather it was surrounded with an earth or stone wall. Remains of that stone wall are still found here and there.

Built upon the remains of Dashawan Fort was Dingshige fort, hastily built between 1886 and 1894 by the Qing. Some Living quarters overgrown by weeds is all what is left now.

Bangka Night Market Taipei

Bangka Night Market, also known as Guangzhou Street Night Market (廣州街夜市), is located in the Wanhua District of Taipei, Taiwan. It is situated just west of Longshan Temple (龍山寺) and just south of Huaxi Street Night Market.

The market is a traditional and authentic one, offering a wide range of street eats, shops, and games. While it is not as large as some other night markets in Taipei, it provides a vibrant atmosphere with plenty of food options and entertainment.

To reach the market, you can take the Blue Line 5 of the MRT to Longshan Temple (龍山寺) station, exiting at Exit 1. From there, you can walk to the market, which is close by. Bangka Qingshan Temple (艋舺青山宮) is also located nearby, adding to the cultural and historical significance of the area.

Bangka Night Market is frequented more by locals than tourists, making it a great place to experience authentic Taiwanese culture and cuisine.

Zhengbin Fishing Harbor Colorful Houses

Zhengbin Port Color Houses, also known as Zhengbin Fishing Harbor, is a popular tourist attraction in Keelung, Taiwan.

The port was built by the Japanese in 1934 and used to be the largest fishing port in Taiwan during the Japanese colonial period.

Today, it is known for its 16 multi-colored houses situated along the bank, which have become a popular Instagram check-in spot. The houses are painted in various colors, reminiscent of the colorful houses in Burano, Italy, and attract many visitors who come to take pictures and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere.

The port is located in Zhongzheng District and is easily accessible via public transport, such as bus 101 from Keelung train station.

It is a great place for photography and offers a peaceful atmosphere, especially during the evenings.
