Prasat Lolei ប្រាសាទលលៃ - 9th Century Temple - Siem Reap Cambodia 2024

Prasat Lolei ប្រាសាទលលៃ often simply called Lolei, was begun during the reign of Indravarman I in the late 9th-century to honor his own immediate family as well as the god Shiva.

The front pair of 4 brick towers were dedicated to his father and grandfather and the rear couple to his mother and grandmother. Despite additional work by the subsequent king Yasorvarman, 2 more planned tower, which would have made 2 rows of 3 east facing shrines, were never completed.

Lolei is the northernmost temple of the Roluos group of late 9th century Hindu temples at Angkor, Cambodia. Other members of this group are Preah Ko and the Bakong.

Lolei was the last of the temples to be built as part of the city of Hariharalaya that once flourished at Roluos, and in 893 the Khmer king Yasovarman I dedicated it to Shiva and to members of the royal family.

The name "Lolei" is thought to be a modern corruption of the ancient name "Hariharalaya," which means "the city of Harihara."

Hoover Dam Tunnel and Power Plant Tour - Las Vegas Nevada 2025

Hoover Dam is a concrete arch-gravity dam in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River, on the border between the U.S. states of Nevada and Arizona. Constructed between 1931 and 1936, during the Great Depression, it was dedicated on September 30, 1935, by President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Its construction was the result of a massive effort involving thousands of workers, and cost over 100 lives. Bills passed by Congress during its construction referred to it as Hoover Dam (after President Herbert Hoover), but the Roosevelt administration named it Boulder Dam. In 1947, Congress restored the name Hoover Dam.

Since about 1900, the Black Canyon and nearby Boulder Canyon had been investigated for their potential to support a dam that would control floods, provide irrigation water, and produce hydroelectric power. In 1928, Congress authorized the project. The winning bid to build the dam was submitted by a consortium named Six Companies, Inc., which began construction in early 1931. Such a large concrete...

Las Vegas Aviators vs Sugar Land Space Cowboys - PCL Baseball April 15th, 2025 - Nevada USA

The Las Vegas Pacific Coast League franchise traces its roots to the Portland Beavers who entered the PCL in 1919 after a two-year hiatus. The team relocated to Spokane, Washington, in 1973, becoming the Spokane Indians. The franchise moved once again in 1983, becoming the Las Vegas Stars.

The Stars, who were the Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, became the first professional sports team to play in Las Vegas since the Las Vegas Quicksilvers soccer club who played a single season in 1977. The Stars' inaugural season was quite successful, posting an 83–60 record and winning the first-half championship for the Southern Division leading to a playoff berth, but eventually losing to the Albuquerque Dukes.

In 2001, Las Vegas became the top farm club of the Los Angeles Dodgers. The new affiliation was accompanied by rebranding to the Las Vegas 51s in reference to Area 51, a military base located north-northwest of Las Vegas legendary for rumors of its housing UFOs and other extraterrestrial ...

Wat Worachettharam วัดวรเชษฐาราม - Burial Site For King Narusuan - Ayutthaya Thailand 2025

Wat Worachettharam วัดวรเชษฐาราม is located directly west of the Royal Palace. It is situated in a park that includes Wat Lokaya Sutha and Wat Rakhang (also known as Wat Worapho).

Wat Worachettharam is a large, restored ruin with many architectural structures on site. One of its primary features is a large bell-shaped chedi that is constructed in the classic middle Ayutthaya period style. The spire contains about 25 rings, and its harmika is fully intact, including spire, supporting colonnade. The chedi sits upon a reconstructed platform.

In front of the chedi is a sermon hall. This vihara has been rebuilt to the basic foundation layer, which includes some partial walls and columns. A large Buddha image sits on the altar in the taming mara pose. The ubosot lies north of the wihan.

This roofless building has all its walls intact and there is evidence that ceramic plates were once placed within the stucco of the gable. A second Buddha image sits on the altar in the taming mara...
