The National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall 國立中正紀念堂
The most prominent historical landmark in Taiwan, the CKS Memorial Hall was erected in honor and memory of Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek, the former President of the Republic of China, and was opened in 1980 as part of a national park and gathering area.
The name of the square is officially Liberty Square (自由廣場), as seen above the front gate, however the name change was politically motivated and most people in practice still refer to the entire complex as Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall.
The octagon-shaped white building rises 76 meters and is covered with blue tiles and red accents, echoing the flag of the Republic of China. Songshan Ciyou Temple
This temple, built in the mid-18th century, is the cradle of development of the Songshan district. The story goes that a monk once roamed this area, carrying a gilded image of Mazu, Goddess of the Sea, as he begged for alms. One day at Xikou—the old name for this district—the monk came upon a number of people, all Mazu believers, from his old home. Together they planned construction of a temple to honor the goddess, and after raising funds for more than 10 years they were able to realize their dream. Construction started in 1753 and was completed in 1757.
The top of the temple roof is richly ornamented; in addition to human figures, there is also a flying dragon placed there because dragons were believed to have the power to prevent fires.

Shilin Night Market 士林夜市 Shìlín is a night market in Shilin District, Taipei, often considered to be the largest and most famous night market in Taiwan.
The night market encompasses two distinct sections. One section is housed in the old Shilin Market building containing mostly food vendors and small restaurants. The other Section is the surrounding businesses and shops selling other nonfood items. The food court holds over 500 stalls.
In addition to the food court, side streets and alleys are lined with storefronts and roadside stands. Cinemas, video arcades, and karaoke bars are also prevalent in the area. Like most night markets in Taiwan, the local businesses and vendors begin opening around 16:00. As students begin returning home from school, crowds reach their peak between 20:00 and 23:00. Businesses continue operating well past midnight, closing around 01:00 or 02:00.

Zhongzheng Park is located on the slopes of Dashawan Mountain, to the east of Keelung City. The park is renowned for its striking 25 meter tall white statue of the Goddess of Mercy, which has become an iconic feature of Keelung.
The park offers panoramic views of Keelung City and the harbor and is organized into three levels. The first level features a historic cannon fort. The second level houses a Buddhist library, the Martyrs' Shrine, and the Zhuputan Temple. The temple attracts numerous worshipers on the 15th day of the 7th lunar month for Zhongyuan Ghost Festival.
